«Обновление для Google Maps уже вышло и доступно для всех пользователей, которые теперь смогут посетить 16 планет и их спутников,» говорится в блоге компании.
Благодаря астрохудожнику Бьорну Йонссону, работавшему над подготовкой карт и их детализацией, сейчас любой желающий сможет подробно изучить поверхность разных далёких планет.
В сервисе Google Maps имеются спутники и планеты. Кроме того, все они имеют отметки с указанием различных объектов, расположенных на их поверхности, поэтому тут же можно прочесть их названия и краткие описания.
Специалисты, работающие над Google Maps, взяли фотографии, полученные с различных космических аппаратов, а затем обработали десятки тысяч изображений и создали единую базу небесных тел, тщательно воссоздав внешний вид и описав их подробности.
