Осенью 2018 года компания Apple выпустила свой первый iPhone с OLED-дисплеем. В этом году, по слухам, Apple представит ещё два iPhone с OLED-панелями, а третья новая модель будет оснащена LCD-экраном.
Окончательный переход на OLED запланирован на 2019 год. По словам осведомлённых источников, Apple планирует окончательно перейти на OLED и отказаться от выпуска iPhone с LCD-дисплеями в следующем году. Все три новых iPhone, которые выйдут в 2019 году, получат OLED-экраны. Впрочем, источники не исключают возможность выпуска LCD-модели, но только в том случае, если Apple решит расширить линейку. От решения Apple выиграет Samsung Display и другие поставщики OLED-панелей, а вот Japan Display Inc (JDI) от перехода Apple на OLED пострадает. Японский производитель является крупнейшим поставщиком LCD-панелей для устройств Apple и в частности для iPhone.
