Navizon - это программа для навигации, использующая данные GPS, Wi-Fi и/или GSM-сигналов. Основным средством позиционирования в программе является, конечно, GPS. В случае с GPS программа выступает в качестве обычной карты, на которой отображено текущее местонахождение. И всё же пользователи Navizon с GPS составляют основу системы. Во время работы программа пересылает в общую базу данных сети координаты найденных Wi-Fi точек доступа и информацию о GSM сигналах. Установленная на карманный компьютер без GPS, использует информацию общей сети, при помощи которой происходит навигация по Wi-Fi хот-спотам и GSM вышкам.
Всё прозрачно: неважно, есть ли у вас GPS на КПК, вы сможете воспользоваться частью его возможностью благодаря общей информации (конечно, если в вашем городе достаточно пользователей КПК с GPS, Wi-Fi хот-спотов и GSM вышек). Чтобы Navizon имела доступ к общей базе данных, необходимо бесплатно зарегистрироваться на сайте программы. Доступ к общей базе данных осуществляется одним из 3 способов: синхронизация КПК через крэдл, wi-fi или GPRS.
